Mike’s botbot made an appearance in episode 94 (what do you mean you haven’t heard Mike’s botbot. We won’t say any more – we’ll leave you to listen!) and following on from this, long-time listener Graham made his own version which he called The BotBot Song.
Great effort Graham and thanks for the contribution to the show. Could this be the next number one? Well it could give The Goombays a run for their money. Anyway here’s Graham’s email along with a link to his BotBot Song…
Hi Mike & Elaine,
I can hear the wails of despair now. All those hours spent on training, all that work gone into planning those webinars, and they come up with this… and it didn’t even involve a spreadsheet or a graphics app…
Firstly though, I apologise to the developer of NanoStudio for reducing his excellent drum pad & keyboard sequencer to a mere child’s toy through the importing of one teeny sample. It’s partly his fault though, if he’d charged an amount appropriate to his software’s capabilities instead of a piddling £10.50 then I probably wouldn’t have bought it in the first place! It does demonstrate however the damage a few bots can do to both software and to the software developers reputation.
I must also apologise to Mike. The whole thing is him, Laurie Anderson was nowhere in sight.
So, do we call it ‘The BotBot Song’? Or do we simply delete it and pretend it never existed? I won’t be offended if it’s the latter. In fact I’d probably be quite relieved…
Mercifully it’s very short, something to do with me being somewhat talentless and a bit lazy. And not wanting to push my luck too far…
Finally, thank you for all the podcasts and webinars. I hope I’ll still be allowed to attend…
Graham.
P.S. As far as I’m aware, I made the tune up all by myself but if there is a copyright holder out there somewhere, I wouldn’t worry, he’ll be long dead now. Somebody would have shot him.
